The Mankind Project

Minnesota, USA - 2006 Ron Hering Award Winner

Name: Ted Harrison
Personal Mission: “Personal Mission: As a Man among men I am a voice for Peace, Balance, Freedom and Unity of the Human Tribe ”

Action in the World: As a Metis (person of mixed blood) man and Sun Dancer my interest has been working with people of mixed blood. I have worked in the Mental Health field as a therapist and Human Ecologist. Human ecology is the term I prefer to use because the mental health field is so far out of balance and not connected with the cycle of life and spirit. I serve men, women, families, communities, the Earth and the out case from the mainstream. I have served on two non-profit Boards; Indian Health Board of Minneapolis and Woman of Nations (a domestic violence shelter). Currently I am on a board to preserve Potters Farm, a retreat and educational center in northern Wisconsin. For several years, myself together with two other men took kids at risk to the boundary waters canoe area for guidance and connection to the earth. I have worked with the Boys to Men program with two of the monthly gatherings with a focus on Peace, Violence and war games.
