Personal Mission:  “To create a sober and healthy world by channeling G-d’s healing energy with my compassion, creativity and love”.

Action in the World: Jimmy Nocon is a Doctor of obstetrics in Indianaoplis, Indiana who works with drug addicted and alcoholic women in recovery.

A number of years ago a law was introduced in Indiana to make the use of an illegal or illicit substance by a pregnant woman a Class D felony. Jimmy spoke at the hearings on this bill as a doctor in recovery. He told the legislators that this was the worst possible policy. He said that 85% of his patients who were in recovery were clean and sober at the birth of their child. The babies were also healthy. He asked the legislators to give treatment a chance and to create a commission to evaluate the needs of pregnant addicts and alcoholics.

The legislature withdrew the criminalization bill and enacted a law to create the Indiana Prenatal Substance Abuse Commission. Jimmy was appointed to and subsequently elected Chair of the commission. The Commission will study and make recommendations on: screening and detection protocols, data collection and treatment funding, including a mandate for third party insurers and Medicaid to pay for addiction treatment.

Since that time Jimmy has treated 320 clean and sober women in recovery and their babies.

Jimmy is also a member of the Deep Recovery Program. D.R. is a weekend intensive for men in recovery. Originally it was designed specifically for Warriors in recovery but is now open to uninitiated men. Jimmy says, it “employees guts level processes for each of the 12 steps”, of A.A. “in order to own or recover those fear, shame or pain filled parts of ourselves.  It is a process of deep grieving and re-experiencing pain and reconnecting to spirit at a higher level of consciousness.” The objective is to “move from working the steps to living them”.
